About Our Board of Directors
The OCS Board of Directors is made up of 5 – 11 members including parents, staff and community members. Board members support the long term vision of our school, collaborating to self-determine our school’s destiny. They are responsible for actively overseeing our school’s core values and mission, ensuring the school’s financial viability, and hiring and reviewing the executive staff that runs the school.
The Board is ultimately charged with insuring high achievement for every child, and the school’s overall success and viability. Six Community Committees implement the business of the Board and facilitate its functioning. They are comprised of staff, parents, board and community members, established as follows:
- Development Committee — oversees and implements fundraising, marketing and public relations
- Facilities Committee — oversees campus and facility issues both immediate and long term
- Finance Committee — develops and oversees the school’s operating budget, spending and allocation of funds
- Governance Committee — recruits and orients new board members, assesses and oversees the ongoing functioning of the school and its officers, and spearheads board development and long range strategic planning
- Program Committee — oversees ongoing assessment and development of the curricular program, student achievement and outcomes; ensures the realization of our mission and charter
- Wellness Committee — supports program health, aiming to secure an enjoyable, high quality experience for all stakeholders
The School Board facilitates communication and team building and acts as negotiator in disagreements. It monitor committees to ensure progress toward goals and the accomplishment of duties, and ultimately approves or denies committee resolutions.
